LA Protesters Aren’t Inviting Violent Authoritarianism, They’re Mobilizing to Stop It

Adam Schiff and centrist concern trolls have it completely backward: Trump’s immigration crackdown is the source of pervasive violence.

In recent months, the United States has been plagued by a disturbing trend of violent attacks against immigrants and those perceived to be immigrants. These attacks have been fueled by the rhetoric and policies of President Donald Trump, who has made it his mission to crack down on immigration and vilify immigrants as criminals and threats to national security. While some may try to shift the blame onto those who stand up against this anti-immigrant agenda, the truth is that it is Trump’s crackdown that is the root cause of the violence we are witnessing.

One of the most recent examples of this violence was seen in Los Angeles, where a group of protesters took to the streets to voice their opposition to Trump’s immigration policies. However, instead of being met with empathy and understanding, these protesters were met with brutal force by law enforcement officers. The scenes of chaos and violence that emerged from this protest were not a result of the protesters’ actions, but rather a reflection of the authoritarian and oppressive tactics used by those in power.

Adam Schiff, a Democratic congressman from California, has been a vocal critic of these protests. He has accused the protesters of inviting “violent authoritarianism” by taking to the streets and disrupting the daily lives of ordinary Americans. However, Schiff and other centrist “concern trolls” have completely missed the mark in their assessment of the situation. It is not the protesters who are inviting violence, but rather the policies and actions of the Trump administration.

Since taking office, Trump has implemented a series of policies that have targeted immigrants and communities of color. From the Muslim ban to the separation of families at the border, these policies have instilled fear and hatred towards immigrants, legitimizing violence against them. The recent rise in hate crimes against immigrants is a direct result of the dehumanization and demonization of these communities by the Trump administration.

Furthermore, the use of excessive force by law enforcement at these protests is a clear indication of the authoritarian tactics being employed by the government. The use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and physical force against peaceful protesters is a violation of their constitutional rights and a clear attempt to silence dissent. The fact that these tactics were used against a group of people simply voicing their opposition to oppressive policies is alarming and should be a cause for concern for all Americans.

The real source of violence in this situation is not the protesters, but rather the systemic oppression and injustice perpetuated by the Trump administration. These brave individuals who took to the streets in protest were not inviting violence, but rather mobilizing to stop it. They were standing up against an administration that has been emboldened by the silence and complicity of those in power.

As Americans, it is our responsibility to stand up against this pervasive violence and defend the rights of all individuals, regardless of their immigration status. It is not enough to simply sit back and condemn these acts of violence when they occur. We must also actively work towards dismantling the systems of oppression that allow them to happen in the first place.

It is time for Adam Schiff and other centrist politicians to stop shifting the blame and start addressing the root cause of this violence. It is time for them to stand with the protesters and use their power to hold the Trump administration accountable for their actions. It is time for all of us to come together and make it clear that we will not tolerate a government that incites violence and oppresses marginalized communities.

In the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Let us remember this and stand in solidarity with those who are fighting against injustice and violence. Let us reject the false narrative that protesters are inviting violence and recognize that it is Trump’s immigration crackdown that is the source of pervasive violence. Let us strive towards building a society where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their immigration status. Only then can we truly say that we are a nation that stands for liberty and justice for all.
