2025: A Year Review with Nick Taylor, Head of Residential at Zip Water UK

As we approach the end of 2025, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the past year and look towards the future. And who better to do that with than Nick Taylor, the Head of Residential at Zip Water UK. With years of experience in the industry, Nick has seen the interior design landscape evolve and adapt to new trends and technologies. In this exclusive interview with the Society of British & International Interior Design, Nick shares his insights on the post-2025 interior design world.

The first question on everyone’s mind is, how has the interior design industry changed since 2025? Nick takes a moment to reflect before answering, “The biggest change we’ve seen is the integration of technology into design. In the past, technology was seen as a separate entity, but now it’s an integral part of the design process. From smart homes to virtual reality, technology has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for interior design.”

This integration of technology has not only changed the way designers work, but also the way consumers interact with their living spaces. Nick explains, “With the rise of smart homes, consumers are now able to control their entire living environment with the touch of a button. This has led to a greater focus on functionality and convenience in design. It’s no longer just about aesthetics, but also about creating spaces that enhance our daily lives.”

But with all this talk of technology, has the human touch been lost in interior design? Nick assures us that this is not the case. “Technology has actually allowed designers to be more creative and innovative. It has freed us from certain limitations and allowed us to push the boundaries of design. However, the human touch is still crucial in creating a space that truly reflects the personality and needs of the client.”

Speaking of clients, how have their expectations changed in the post-2025 interior design world? Nick believes that clients are now more informed and have higher expectations. “With the rise of social media and online platforms, clients have access to a wealth of information and inspiration. They come to us with a clear vision of what they want, and it’s our job to bring that vision to life while also adding our own touch of creativity.”

As we look towards the future, what trends can we expect to see in the coming years? Nick predicts that sustainability will continue to be a major focus in interior design. “Consumers are becoming more conscious of their impact on the environment, and this is reflected in their choices for their living spaces. We will see a rise in eco-friendly materials and designs that promote sustainability.”

Nick also believes that there will be a shift towards more personalized and unique spaces. “With the rise of technology, we have access to endless design options. This has led to a demand for more personalized and bespoke designs that truly reflect the individuality of the client.”

So, what does all this mean for the future of interior design? Nick believes that the possibilities are endless. “The future of interior design is exciting and full of potential. With the integration of technology, the focus on sustainability, and the demand for personalized spaces, we are constantly pushing the boundaries and creating new and innovative designs.”

As our interview comes to an end, Nick leaves us with some final words of wisdom for aspiring interior designers. “Always stay curious and open to new ideas. The interior design world is constantly evolving, and it’s important to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies. But most importantly, never forget the human touch in your designs. At the end of the day, it’s about creating spaces that enhance the lives of those who inhabit them.”

As we bid farewell to 2025 and look towards the future, one thing is certain – the post-2025 interior design world is full of endless possibilities. With technology, sustainability, and personalization at the forefront, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this dynamic and ever-evolving industry.
