Trump Calls Cartel Members “Terrorists.” They’re Armed With Bullets From a U.S. Army Factory.

In recent years, the issue of drug trafficking and violence has been a hot topic in the United States of America. The country has been grappling with the influx of drugs and the rise of drug-related crimes, leading to a constant blame game between the U.S. and Mexico. However, what is often overlooked in this conversation is the role of the U.S. in contributing to the problem through the rampant flow of guns into Mexico.

President Donald Trump has been vocal about his stance on Mexico being responsible for the flow of drugs into the U.S. In fact, he has gone as far as to label members of Mexican drug cartels as “terrorists.” But in reality, the flow of guns from the U.S. is just as much of a threat to Mexico’s safety and security.

It’s no secret that the U.S. is the world’s largest exporter of firearms. And unfortunately, many of these guns end up in the hands of drug cartels in Mexico. According to a report by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), between 2009 and 2014, close to 70% of guns recovered and traced from Mexican crime scenes were traced back to the U.S.

But how are these guns ending up in Mexico? The answer lies in the weak gun control laws in the U.S. and the illegal arms trade that thrives because of it. It is estimated that around 253,000 guns are smuggled from the U.S. to Mexico every year, making it a lucrative business for criminal organizations.

The consequences of this illegal flow of guns into Mexico are devastating. Not only does it fuel the ongoing drug war, but it also displaces and endangers millions of innocent people. In the past decade, Mexico has experienced a surge in violence, with over 250,000 people losing their lives to drug-related crimes. This has also led to a large number of people being displaced from their homes and communities, as they flee the violence and seek safety elsewhere.

But what makes this situation even more concerning is that many of these guns are not just any ordinary firearms, but military-grade weapons manufactured by the U.S. Army. In a recent article published by The Intercept, it was revealed that the guns used by Mexican drug cartels to terrorize and harm innocent people were traced back to a U.S. Army factory in Texas. These guns, known as “cop killer” guns, have the capability of piercing through body armor and are designed specifically for military use.

It’s a paradox that while the U.S. government blames Mexico for the flow of drugs into their country, they are also the ones supplying the weapons that fuel the violence and displacement in Mexico. This hypocrisy needs to be addressed and action needs to be taken.

The U.S. government must take responsibility for their role in fueling the crisis in Mexico. They must strengthen their gun control laws and crack down on the illegal arms trade. Furthermore, they must stop turning a blind eye to the illegal flow of weapons across the border and work with Mexico to address this issue.

But it’s not just the responsibility of the U.S. government. As citizens, we must also demand stricter gun control laws and hold our government accountable for their actions. We must also support initiatives that aim to decrease the demand for drugs in the U.S., as it is this demand that drives the flow of drugs and the need for guns into Mexico.

In conclusion, it’s time for the U.S. government to take a hard look at their role in the drug and violence crisis in Mexico. Blaming Mexico for the flow of drugs into the U.S. while ignoring their own contribution to the problem is not a solution. It’s time to acknowledge the reality and work towards finding a joint solution that will benefit both countries and their citizens. Let’s not forget that behind every gun and every drug, there are real people suffering. It’s time to put an end to this vicious cycle and work towards a safer and more secure future for all.
